Dr. Mark Andersen-Nissen

PT, DPT, COMT

Mark first started running recreationally in college and upon graduating decided to enter his first road race, the Denver Rock ‘n Roll Marathon and has been hooked ever since. He later worked in a local run specialty shop in Denver where he developed a strong working knowledge of all the running products and technologies. It was there that Mark first started to analyze people’s gait on the treadmill and this opened up a whole new world of interest in running and running mechanics.

Mark became a physical therapist in 2017 to explore his passion for running and biomechanical analysis of movement. He later achieved his COMT (certified orthopedic manual therapy), an advanced certification with an emphasis on clinical reasoning and hands-on treatment in order to better treat his runners.

As a physical therapist, Mark often treats patients who have sustained running injuries and has a passion for problem-solving the training errors and biomechanical break-downs that lead to injury. Through his work, Mark has developed a passion for teaching runners about the importance of strength training, mobility work, running form, and training frequency to help keep his athletes on their feet and out of the clinic.
